First doctor's appointment

Following the hospital pediatrician's concerns about Sawyer's jaundice, she wanted us to get in ASAP to see our pediatrician to look over the blood work.  Sawyer had his first appointment on May 13, a few days shy of his 1 week birthday.  The pediatrician told us that his bilirubin levels looked good and, better yet, his hemoglobin levels were back up in the normal range!  Thank God!  He still had quite the golden hue to his skin and eyes, but she said she didn't need us to do any more bloodwork (thank goodness- Sawyer's poor little heels looked horrible!).  We talked about Sawyer's heart and she wanted us to schedule a follow-up appointment with her for after we met with the cardiologist.  Then we could talk about the plan and she could again follow up on his jaundice.

Sawyer weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces after leaving the hospital at 8 pounds even.  Yay for gaining weight!  He was still 20".  (Four days later at the cardiologist, Sawyer was 8 pounds, 12 ounces.  The following Monday, he was 8 pounds, 14 ounces.)  I was so relieved that he was back over his birth weight because we had a lot of problems with Pax and making sure he was gaining enough weight.

We love our pediatrician.  She is very comforting and a good listener.  She answered all of my freaked out mom questions patiently and made me feel good.

We go back to the pediatrician in June for Sawyer's one month appointment!
